Design Concept
In the world of Architecture and Design computers have expanded the technical possibilities beyond anyone's imagination. But computers will never replace human creativity. I often hear "she has a good eye..." What it means perhaps is the ability to offer a unique, personal and efficient solution to Design problems in an holistic fashion. One that takes into account space planning and traffic patterns, shapes and void (architectural elements, furnishings, Art...) and utilizes all the senses (adressing noise factors, lighting, color, materials etc...) It is that human creativity and skills I bring to my work.
My
designs are far more than an expression of taste. It's an expression
of life, both my Clients' and mine. As life it's full of light
and shadow, energy and form, the Yin and the Yang. It's a personal,
intimate statement. As a result I work in multiple styles, drawing
from my French, American and Asian backgrounds. My work is more
than surface deep, more than decoration. Interior architecture
and space planning are at its core: a "good space" can
make you productive; it can heal; it can save money. A "bad
space" can be an hindrance; it can impair a business; it
can be costly to use... My Designs have an holistic approach with
the Client's needs in mind. I'm not selling a "look",
a cookie-cutter pattern applied to everyone. With my expertise
and style I am offering my Clients a tool to express themselves.
Biography
Born in Washington, DC from French parents working in international organizations, raised in France until age 24, I moved to the US for a 6-month-long banking training. This path lasted 21 years. Banking (not my thing) became Interior Design. After having spent 3 years in France in law school, I spent 3 years in Boston earning an Interior Design degree. I graduated and married within the same week. Within 6 months I started my own business. Greatly influenced by my French upbringing and by the Far East where my Father moved years ago, I have had a successful practice. But I felt at times intellectually unfullfilled and so decided to go back to school. I earned a BA in International Relations and several awards. When prior clients approched me to design their new home, i went back in business with a renewed pleasure and energy. Having found the yin and the yang of my life and after 21 years in the US, Europe has become the place for the next journey and Belgium a new home.
